European court of justice confirms UberPop ban: still no private drivers on france`s streets, on LTO.DE

The US mobility service provider Uber will also not be able to implement its ride-sharing model among private individuals in France.

In accordance with a recently decision of the European Court of Justice, such a service would have to be regulated as a transportation service, explained Askan Deutsch, a competition law expert in the Hamburg FPS office, in an article for Legal Tribune Online. Uber indicated that the ban is based on French transportation law and that it should have, as a technical regulation, first been reported to the EU Commission. However, the European Court of Justice rightfully did not follow this formal argument, explained Askan Deutsch.
